Pre-Kindergarten
Since its inception in the fall of 1973, the Minerva Area Christian School pre-kindergarten program has ministered to children and families in the community, striving to provide both age-appropriate academic instruction and biblical principles to young minds and hearts.
Licensed by the Ohio Department of Education, M.A.C.S. pre-kindergarten program realizes the importance of adherence to the Ohio Academic Content Standards as one means of helping prepare children for kindergarten.
In addition, we also seek to develop the social skills of each child, accomplishing this goal through group play and teacher-child interaction.
Finally, each child's physical development is also a focus of the M.A.C.S. program, desiring that all children understand the importance of proper nutrition and exercise.
The Minerva Area Christian School pre-kindergarten serves 3,4, and 5-year-old children. Our 3's attend two half days per week, either Monday and Wednesday or Tuesday and Thursday. Our 4's and 5's are in session three half days per week, with children scheduled for Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday or Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. Both morning and afternoon classes are available. Morning classes are held from 9:00 until 11:30, while afternoon sessions begin at 12:30 and end at 3:00.
Scheduled field trips include trips to the pumpkin patch, the Minerva Fire Station, and the local I.G.A.
One of the guiding principles of the M.A.C.S. pre-kindergarten program is our belief in assisting parents in the instruction of their children. We view the education that we offer the children as supplemental to the family's, realizing that a child's parents are the first true teachers. Therefore, we are committed to partnering with moms and dads and/or grandmas and grandpas as they seek to instruct their children academically, spiritually, socially, and physically. As a result, parents/grandparents are welcome to visit the classroom and observe class in session.
As a Christian school, the message of the gospel of Jesus Christ is interwoven throughout all facets of the curriculum. Whether engaging in a class discussion during circle time, working at classroom tables, or bowing heads before snack, every child is presented with the love of Christ, in both word and action. Therefore, in addition to witnessing the daily example of Jesus as exhibited in the life of their teachers, all students are involved in chapel services once per week, where bible lessons are provided in an age-appropriate manner and songs of praise are lifted by young voices.
